So, as of right now, things are kinda slow. Reason being, we’re lazy scumbags; but that’s okay. I know it took 6 months for this trash heap to get off the ground in any meaningful way and I believe it deserves an actual explanation. Consider this post a sort of dive into what I am thinking in regards to RHSF and how I plan to tackle this thing. There are 2 main things you should know about me that have and will certainly continue to be my main priorities.
1) I am a family man.
I have a wife and two daughters and they come first. I know at least one other member of our staff is also a father. Naturally, they must come first in all endeavors and only after everything is in good shape, (which it usually is) can I dedicate time to this. In fact, as I was typing that last second, my youngest daughter woke up and started crying, so i took the time to comfort her before finishing.
2) I work 6 days a week 8-10 hours a day right now
So there another thing that makes this hard. I’m not going to go in depth, but it won’t last forever. I am covering for a lack of staffing and since my position isn’t easy to fill, I might be stuck doing it for awhile. Some of you noticed I was gone from the Discord channel for most of April. That’s primarily why. Some of you reading this might think I’m being over worked, and personally i disagree. The extra money from all the overtime has been wondeful and i’ll be using it to pay to have some parts of my house remodeled. Crunch time isn’t bad when you love your work and are motivated to do it.
Those don’t even pertain to RHSF, you say. Trust me, I know that
You might ask why, with all this going on, would I even consider continuing this endevor? Why not just quit rom hacking, stop with the website stuff while I am ahead, and just move on with what is obviously a very busy and fufilling life as it is?
Well, again. Because crunching isn’t bad if your motivated and love your work. You gotta do what you feel is right, and to me, this is right. I’ll go into the how and why a bit later.
Just know that ROM Hacking is incredibly important to me, and that I want to ensure as many ROM Hackers as possible have a place to come and post their work in the event that they have a problem with the way other communities are run.
When I disappear for a few weeks, I am not gone. I will return when i have ensured the most important matters are attended to. This is one of my hobbies. This is one of the things I love.
